"SUBLIMINABLE" ADVERTISING. Hee, hee. Maybe the "bureauc-" part made it just too darn big a word for GW.

MAKING THE SOAP. All my boys! On All My Children (Monday)! All for love!

HONG KONG SHOW TIME. Kung Fu film fanatics are already fully aquiver over the prospects of Ang Lee's coming effects-drenched extravaganza, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," starring the awesome Chow Yun Fat and the -- if possible -- even more awesome Michelle Yeoh. Get a taste of what Internet buzzmeisters are calling one of the great films of all time, Kung Fu or otherwise. With a purportedly terrific story, a fantastic director, two of the biggest names to emerge from Hong Kong ever, and the special effects team from "The Matrix," it's a genuine quadruple threat martial arts film. The official site even features Ang Lee talking about superheroes. Watch out, Hollywood. You won't know what hit you. [-- Colin.]

WHO GREEN-LIT THAT? Meanwhile, scientists are fully aquiver about recent success in building self-reproducing robots. They say that this advance will lead in the short term to "cheaper robots." Yeah, and in the long term, to a master race.

IT'S NATIONAL LOVE A MENSCH WEEK!* Okay, first you gotta find one.

MARS AND VENUS: THE MUSICAL?! Salon reports that the John Gray juggernaut will take to the [Vegas] stage on September 18, but I can find actual evidence nowhere. Bet they found in focus groups that Martians think "musical theater" is for Venutians.

URBANIA. A witty, moody exploration of a witty, moody gay man's search for love, answers, and redemption. Tagline: "Heard any good stories lately?" How about the one about BG's real-live date with hottie in the starring role?
