I understand why you feel uncomfortable, but your boyfriend is probably like me. I spent a number of years so insecure about my appearance that I decided only to date guys who were much less attractive than I. I thought that they would be so happy to have me that they would treat me better. I'm not hung up on looks, so it didn't matter to me, and I thought they would just feel lucky. Well, guess what? Ugly guys aren't any nicer than cute ones. They weren't any more attracted to me than other boys, and they didn't treat me any better, and sometimes worse since they had their own insecurities and issues (although many of them had a self image of being different from other guys and therefore better, which just made things more frustrating). After a few years of this, I realized that I should date cute boys. Guess what? They are usually better catches because I'm not expecting them to be grateful for my attentions, and they aren't dating me as some sort of token. Your boyfriend probably just realized the same thing.
