Dear Breakup Girl,

Well, I just started talking to this guy and he asked me out. I said yes. It was fine at first, but now he's starting to call me a little too much and I hate talking on the phone! And besides, he isn't as cute as he was when I first saw him. He's too tall, fat, ugly, annoying, and definitely not my type at all. The only reason I said yes is because he at first looked cute and I also felt sorry for him. I never dumped a person face to face, I've always sent one of my friends to do it for me, but i'm getting older now and I need to do things on my own. What's the best way to bring it up to him?

-- Tiffany

Dear Tiffany,

Right you are, kiddo. The best way to tell someone you'd rather be on your own is ... on your own. And, it's more respectful/kind/polite to call things off sooner than later. So just say something like, "I am totally sorry, but I am having second thoughts. About going out again, I think I'm gonna say no thanks." (Hint: leave out some of the details you told me.) He can hate you for dumping him (no way around that), but -- if you are nice at all times -- he can't hate you for how you dumped him. Good luck.

Me, I'll just wait for his letter.

Love,
Breakup Girl
