Dear Breakup Girl,

Should I show up at my crush's jobsite and say I had no idea he works there?

-- Stacia

Dear Stacia,

If he works at home, then no.

If you are on Seinfeld, it's been done.

If his jobsite is a place that you could otherwise show up without suspicion -- AND if you promise me you can lightly chalk this stunt up to the fun of a crush, not the imperative of an obsession -- then MAYBE. ONCE. And if you do, you have to have some sort of PLAN, some way for this covert action to result in some sort of minor upgrade/stakes-raiser. In other words, make sure you actually chat and give him your e-mail, or...something. (As opposed to letting him nab you peeking out at him from behind a Keno machine or something.) But mainly because he'll either totally know what you're up to, or he'll have no clue whatsoever -- and THEN you'd have to, what, go back again? Drop by, drop a hint, then let his second job be to pick up on it.

Love,
Breakup Girl
