Dear Breakup Girl,

My boyfriend and I just had our one year anniversary. We'd talked about it coming up prior to the day: what we would do, what restaurant we'd go to, and that we couldn't believe it was a year.

Well the day came and I gave him a card and a small gift, he said to me, "Oh I didn't know it was that kind of anniversary." He didn't even give me a card. He did pay for dinner. Do you think it is a big deal?

-- Christy

Dear Christy,

Hee hee. Reminds me of the time when a guy noticed me carrying my hockey equipment down the street and asked, "Do you shoot the puck?" I was like, "Oh, no, it's not THAT kind of hockey!" (We carry the puck in a little basket.)

But anyway. He sort of sounds lame, but kind of I see his point. You two planned the dinner; he thought that was it. Plus, the first anniversary is the paper anniversary, right? So there's the...credit card receipt. So hey, do you feel loved year-round? Does he make you feel like you're a special gift every day. I'm happy if you tell me you've got THAT kind of boyfriend.

Love,
Breakup Girl
