Dear Breakup Girl,
I have a boyfriend. I was taking a walk in the park when I swore I saw him
kissing another girl. I only saw the back of the person's head, but I knew it
had to be him. So I went to his best friend's house to get his best friend to
kiss me, just to get back at him. I went over there and told his best friend
everything. I cried my eyes out. We ended up making out, after a few hours.
Then, when I was walking home (very happy with myself because I got back at
him), I realized all of a sudden that he was in Maine with his family. As soon
as he comes back I know his best friend is going to tell him. What am I going
to do?
--Bad Girl
Um, Bad Girl?
If
a) you not only didn't recognize that that was not
your
boyfriend, but were predisposed to assume it "had to be"
him,,
b) you "got him back" behind his back rather
than working it out to his face, and
c) you didn't even remember that he was in Maine in
the
first place,
then I'd say you know this guy like the back of your
... head. And that somewhere in the back of your mind you're looking for some
kind of way out. Which, when he comes back, I think you'll see you've found.
Next time, Bad Girl, date someone you know would never do that (like, people
who seek out better best friends). As in: know that you're better than
that.
Love,
Breakup Girl
