Dear Breakup Girl,

My boyfriend of 1 1/2 years broke up with me a month ago. I am totally devastated. I know he still loves me and wants me, but he is not free (he is married and has three children). I am trying to get over him, because I acknowledge the fact that it wasn't right. But we were so good together and I love him so very much. I was ready for him and for his daughters, I was ready for a lifetime commitment to him and his kids, but then he decided to be a responsible father and stay with his family. I am currently getting some professional help so that I can start moving on with my life. But deep inside (and maybe not so deep) I still want him and I would run towards him if he would change his mind. At this stage, everytime I see him (we work together so we see each other quite often) I pretend I am totally recover, but this is only to make him want me back (I am going through hell, but so is he, he is now back to the old life he was about to give up for me!) I want to make him think that I don't need him, that I have plenty of guys who would love to be my partners (which is true, but I am not interested because I just want him). I would really like to do something that would make him change his mind and come back to me, making him realize that he has made a terrible mistake and that he will only be happy if we are together. I also want to give him some flowers, flowers which would say something like, "It was great while it lasted, but know I am moving on. Good luck and know that I will always be your friend." Do you know what kind of flower could say something like that? I thank you very much for you reply and I hope you can help me.

-- Susanna

Oh, Susanna,

As a matter of fact, I do. A chrysanthemum (bronze).

But you realize that you said both that you want to change his mind AND tell him that you were moving on. Susanna, I'm so sorry, but I'd bag the first idea and get two bouquets: one for your desk, too. Be strong. It will be very, very hard for a while. But one day a single, available guy will drop by with some Arum (wild).

Love,
Breakup Girl
