Dear Breakup Girl,

I need to end an "acquaintance-ship" (his word, not mine) that has no benefits to me except occasional dinners and sex. I want to be adult about this. Some breakup tips, please: In person vs. e-mail (our most frequent type of communication). Cliches vs. reality.

Dear Kelly,

Normally, e-mail breakups are against the rules (see last week's column). But if you're ending something that the other party can't manage to call anything more than an "acquaintance-ship," you can do the deed with a Taco Bell postcard for all I care.
