Dear Breakup Girl,
Someone told me that out of a pool of say, 20 girls he's interested in, a guy
will only ask out one. Is this true, and if so, why is it that out of all the
men I have met, I'm never the one, nor do I get any indication that I'm even
in the pool of 20?
--Katerina
Dear Katerina,
Oh, you're in the pool. Let's say the Pool Rule is true:
what it would really mean is that those 20 girls are ... the girls he knows.
And everyone, male or female, has at least thought "What if ...
" about basically everyone they know. In this regard, actually asking out
only one is better than playing Twenty Questions, if you know what I mean. Now,
as far as being the one? Hard to say. Meantime,
how about being the one ... who asks?
Love,
Breakup Girl
