Dear Breakup Girl,
It's been over a year since I broke up with my ex-boyfriend of ten months.
We are now close friends, and even though I was the one who broke off the
relationship and am not regretting it one bit, I find that whenever he begins
seeing a girl or even comments on a "cute chick" walking by, I instantly have a
jealous fit and have an instant dislike for the girl. I honestly have no
intentions of getting back together with him because I'm happy with the way
things are between us now. I was basically just wondering why I react the way I
do, though want nothing more than friendship.
--Karen
Dear Karen,
Makes perfect sense. Sure, you broke up with him and
are content, but the idea was that you would move on to find the one
and he would be bachelor "uncle" to your children. He is supposed to
pine. He is supposed to say "I can't even look at another girl, as no one
will
ever replace Karen."
So you're normal, I promise. Just promise me you're
having
the "on the inside" kind of "jealous fit," okay? Because otherwise,
you
are really way outside of your jealousy jurisdiction. Become the psycho
jealous
ex, and he will find you only too easy to replace.
Love,
Breakup Girl
