Dear Breakup Girl,

My boyfriend and I have been going out for three years and living together for two. We have not been getting along ever since we moved in together. I think that the spark is gone -- at least for him it is. A few days ago, he took me to the mountains and told me that he needed another girl on the side just for the sexual part of the relationship. Then he said, "Never mind."

The bad thing is that I really don't care if he does or not. I love him like a friend because he has been there for me when I really needed one. Is there a way I can break up with him so that we are still friends?

--Adriana

Dear Adriana,

Well, staying friends -- like, only friends -- sorta sounds like what Mountain Man said he wanted, too. And I hear that he's really been there for you. But I sure don't like the sound of his -- even though it seems to have been temporary -- compartmentalization plan. So about staying friends, I'm inclined to think the other thing that he said: "Never mind."

Love,
Breakup Girl
