Dear Breakup Girl,

Everything was going great with my boyfriend Steve. We have been dating for almost a month now, and he constantly tells me how much in love he is. Then, on Thursday, I got the flu and I talked to him on the phone for a couple hours. I was home sick all day Friday and he didn't call me at all, and now it's Saturday and he still hasn't dialed me. I thought everything was, great; the only problem with our relationship was the distance between us (he lives 15 minutes away). Was he out with someone else on Friday? Should I call him? Please help!!!

15 minutes by space shuttle? That would be far. Otherwise, sweetie, I don't think distance is a factor here. Sure, if he's that "in love" -- and if you guys are indeed in the habit of talking every day or most days -- he probably should have called to see how you were feeling. Lame, maybe. But cheating? Not necessarily. If Steve calls in the next couple days, great; if not, call him and call him on it. Gently. The point here is simply this: I want to make sure that you -- and everyone -- date people who will walk the walk for you. Even if it takes fifteen minutes.
