We at BreakupGirl.net have been huge fans of Carrie since Idol, and no matter how magical her life has gotten since winning, we have found it impossible to hate her. This unconditional love was put to the test with her fairytale wedding to ultimate-catch/hockey player Mike Fisher, detailed in this weekend’s People. Usually other people’s weddings, in particular the kind that garner this kind of EXCLUSIVE! coverage, have us reaching for the tylenol. But not this one. We are thrilled for the still-humble Okie! How is this possible? Maybe because it’s just another perk of winning Idol, which we helped make happen. The biggest perk we’ve ever seen, come to think of it. Although that Mustang was nice.

15 pounds = reason #23058 to adore Christina Hendricks:

“I guess my mom raised me right. She was very celebratory of her body. I never heard her once say, ‘I feel fat.’ Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous! NB: People have told me, “If you want to get a job you need to lose weight,” and I said, “Okay, really, then you’re not the person to be around me because I am who I am and I am this way for a reason.” If I wake up tomorrow morning and feel like losing five pounds, then maybe I will. If I don’t, I won’t. I just live life on my standards, on what I believe in… and I feel great about my body. I’m very secure in it. I have no problem doing anything, going to the beach, going to the pool. It’s my body, it’s mine.

IHD: Do you think Huge is going to inspire plus-size women to be confident in their skin?
NB: Absolutely, because my character, I know for sure does not conform to losing weight. She will not conform to trying to look pretty like all of the other girls. She is herself and that’s why I love her and that’s why I feel so blessed to be playing her.

I know the authorities think otherwise, but I’m sorry — REALLY SORRY — to say: this woman (PDF) seems pretty credible. (We do not know for sure what happened, of course. But this is highly unsavory on its face.) Crikey, who is left?!

When you’re down 10-4 how do you throw the opposing team off their game? Why not throw their star player an impromptu bridal shower! That’s what went down at the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game on Monday night in Nashville. In the third inning, bride-to-be Carrie Underwood (who kind of unfairly brought along her professional athlete fiancée) was showered with gag gifts by the rival team which included members of Gloriana and the Oak Ridge Boys among others. After Midnight came back to beat The Grand Ole Opry in extra innings. The fun starts around 2:40…

But beyond that, we can’t put how we feel about the Gores’ split any better than FOBG Rebecca Traister, writing in Salon:

My attempt to sort out why I am unexpectedly gutted by the news of Al and Tipper Gore’s separation:

1. Of course we only see publicly performed versions of political couple-hood, but the Gores’ public performance was pretty damn heart-warming, even if it did tilt a touch too far on the ew-gross-mom-and-dad-are-making-out spectrum. But that’s the point! Mom and dad made out and they still couldn’t make it?

2. Forty years. You get through forty years — of ill-behaved children and ill-behaved bosses and stolen elections — and then you split? This is precisely the kind of mysterious and inexplicable narrative of marriage thing that scares the bejesus out of people who are newly or not yet married. Forty years?

3. Relatedly: so soon after Robbins and Sarandon? Really? Couldn’t divorce have taken the Bushes, or maybe the Broderick-Parkers, first, and given us some respite from confounding and embarrassingly inappropriate sadness over the personal decisions of celebrity couples whose marriages we didn’t even realize we had any emotional investment in until they dropped this bomb all over our post-Memorial Day Tuesday and now we can’t work because we’re really, stupidly sad?

4. Good god, does this mean that Al Gore is going to date? And plus, oh please please please tell me he has not already been dating. Do not want to know. Nyah, nyah, nyah. I cannot hear you. I cannot heeeeaaaar you.

5. Relatedly: they were supposed to be the functional couple. The ones who personally disapproved of the cigars and the thongs and the rest of the ridiculousness so mightily that they eschewed the Big Dog’s help in 2000 and look what happened! All because they were the functional couple!

6. It had never occurred to me that it would bother me in the slightest if Al and Tipper Gore got a divorce mostly because it had never occurred to me that Al and Tipper Gore would ever get a divorce.

…I didn’t know I had any room at all to care about the Gores’ relationship, but maybe because it’s something so much smaller, so much more personal, a headline so much easier to absorb than the other larger tragedies playing out around the globe that this small piece of political gossip turns out to be such an unbelievable freaking bummer.

Did we say wood nymph? We meant magical princess.

A tribute to the dear departed quirktastic Idol with a voice even bigger than her glasses.

1. Siobhan pre-Idol (say what?), in a reality web-series (come again?) about the making of her high-school’s Oz show (really??) in which she hints at family tragedy (no!!!!) and how she has to care for her little sisters (awwww!!). (This will explain her emotion on the April 6 show.)

2. Siobhan did go to college at Salem State (not making it into Berklee) (Yet Ashley Rodriguez did?), but dropped out after a semester. Her mom was laid off from the bookstore and Siobhan became the primary breadwinner. This pre-top-24 interview makes it sound like dinner is not always a certainty in the Magnus household.
